Promotes and sells the destination (Greater Providence Warwick area) as a premier northeast destination for meetings and conventions; achieves specific room night sales goals as assigned and reviewed annually.
Vice President of Sales & Services
Duties & Responsibilities:
Generates convention center and hotel group bookings from the association. government and corporate market segments from customers based in the Washington DC, Virginia, and Maryland areas.
Utilize personal sales calls, electronic and telephone solicitation, tradeshow and industry event attendance, customer events, social media engagement and client entertainment to build relationships and achieve set goals.
Maintain relationships to foster growth of repeat business opportunities.
Generate high quality leads for area hotel community, convention center and meetings and conventions related venues.Manage flow of business and act as a liaison between venue and service providers and the customers. Organize and manage the bid process.
Coordinates and conducts site tours for meeting planners and other decision makers. Showcase area facilities, attractions and the destination in a positive manner at all times.
Make written and/or personal presentations to meeting planners and board of directors, convention delegates or site selection committees in order to secure business for the Providence Warwick area.
Regularly analyze ROI from sales initiatives to ensure best return on the organization's financial investment.
During actual dates of meetings and conventions booked, maintain contact with the executive meeting planner or designated on-site contact. Work in tandem with assigned PWCVB Convention Service Manager to ensure seamless execution of meetings and conventions which exceed customer expectations.
Maintain research on competing cities regarding their sales and marketing strategies.
Other related duties based upon direction from supervisor.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience preferred
Five years minimum of hospitality industry sales experience
Strong analytical skills to be able to determine quality of business and best suited business opportunities for the community
Strong and consistent ability to prioritize activities within specific time guideline and to handle multiple responsibilities within a specific time frame.
Possess excellent communication skills, written, oral and grammatical
Willing and able to work evenings, weekends and holidays based on client and business demands
Ability to operate computer, email system and general office equipment including laptop computers when traveling away from the office. Knowledge of Simpleview CRM system a plus
Ability to travel as necessary (up to 50%)
Ability to lift up to a 25lb box
