The position is responsible for obtaining, analyzing and communicating quantitative and qualitative tourism data such as visitor, airline industry and lodging metrics. Specific responsibilities include data entry; generating and updating Excel tables and graphs, Word reports and PowerPoint presentations; summarizing tourism industry reports and directly supporting the Vice President and Manager of Tourism Insights.
Position requires ability to work both collaboratively and independently, balance a wide variety of assignments, and work in a fast-paced environment requiring time management skills and flexibility.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS are listed in order of importance:
Strategic Planning / Business Development
Assist with the Tourism Insights annual Business Review
Assist with the compilation and publishing/printing of the annual Tourism Insights Marketing & Planning Resource guide.
Update lodging inventory with existing supply, hotels under construction and in planning.
Participate in tourism industry related webinars and summarize key findings.
Research Reports / Ad Hoc Requests
Update and maintain Master Research Deck presentation containing graphs and tables as new data are available.
Collect lodging metrics, LA County airport passenger traffic, LAX international passenger arrival figures and other tourism industry data for scheduled weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual distribution
Provide PR/Communications monthly lodging data for the Membership Newsletter
Provide pertinent data to members, stakeholders and internal staff and address tourism related inquiries from outside firms and individuals
Assist in providing data/analysis for PowerPoint decks where appropriate
Continually redesign/streamline/improve Tourism Insights reports with infographics
Aid in the development and maintenance of any future outgoing reports
Prepare copies of presentations when necessary
Assist in scheduling of meetings
Assist in the preparation of PowerPoint decks and presentations
Perform Other Duties as Assigned
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 1-3 years of related professional experience required.
Prior experience in working with research and research systems, data analysis and reporting is preferred.
Prior experience in the Travel, Tourism or Lodging industry is a plus.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Strong aptitude for working with numbers, databases, and general statistics
Must be proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Dependable, great attitude, highly motivated and a team player
Possesses strong organization skills and attention to detail
Ability to multi-task and meet multiple deadlines
Ability to communication effectively across various departments
