The Board of Directors of the Thousand Islands Regional Tourism Development Corporation, a bi-national tourism development corporation which does business as the Thousand Islands International Tourism Council, is seeking candidates for its Director of Tourism (CEO).
The Director of Tourism must have a solid knowledge of the tourism industry and possess a blend of organizational management and marketing skills. The position performs work in 4 general areas,
General Administration - Including working with the Board of Directors on policies and programs, the supervision of staff and programs, and participation in state, provincial, and national tourism and economic development organizations.
Finance - Prepares the annual budget for the Board of Directors and submits budget requests to major funding partners. The Director also prepares and submits grant proposals and monitors expenditures.
Advertising & Marketing - Sets budget, goals and project parameters for marketing programs. The Director works with staff and its ad agency to determine media plans and placement. The Director works with the media representing and acting as a spokesperson for the organization and industry.
Research - The Director develops, coordinates and provides analysis of the annual business confidence survey, advertising conversion studies, and maintains market information relevant to the region’s tourism industry.
Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications or related fields. Significant marketing and administrative experience preferably within a Destination Marketing Organization is desired.

Additional Salary Information: Employer for the position will be the Thousand Islands Bridge Authority. The position will qualify for benefits afforded TIBA employees including health insurance, life insurance, and a retirement program.
About 1000 Islands International Tourism Council
The Thousand Islands Regional Tourism Development Corporation (dba 1000 Islands International Tourism Council) is the destination marketing organization for 1000 Islands International Region of Northern New York State and Eastern Ontario. Since 1956, the TIITC has been an international partnership with broad collaborations to market the 1000 Islands.
The TIRTDC is governed by a nine-member board of directors. The Corporation’s principal supporters appoint members to the board. Five members are appointed by the Thousand Islands Bridge Authority and four members are appointed by the Jefferson County Board of Legislators. Staff positions are considered employees on loan from the Thousand Islands Bridge Authority under an agreement for staff and services.
