Myriad Marketing is an MMGY company and is the North American representative for the Melbourne Convention Bureau and Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre. We are searching for a great person to fill the position of Business Development Manager. The ideal candidate has 2-5 years of prior experience in a similar or related position and is very familiar with the meetings/association industry in North America. This is a full-time position, with benefits, based in New York City.
The suitable candidate will be responsible for the following:
Support the Director in developing short-term and long-term market development efforts to increase MICE business (specifically from the association, corporate and incentive sectors) from US and Canada to Melbourne.
Collaborate with key partners including planners, airlines, media, government, hoteliers, MICE organizations, event organizers to execute market initiatives to drive business to Melbourne.
Manage and coordinate a budget and expenses
Keep abreast of market research, trends, identify emerging customer needs and preferences, and develop new business strategies.
Coordinate with head office and other relevant parties to ensure client events are successfully promoted and managed
Compile monthly reports
Manage the IMEX America diary and coordinate with head office on all logistical components
Perform delegate boosting activities as required
Business Development Responsibilities
Develop a healthy pipeline of new and existing accounts through lead development, research and other relevant activities
Qualify leads generated and aid development and securing of business events
Assist in servicing all existing accounts
Research, organize and undertake sales trips, conferences and industry related trade shows
Undertake and drive research projects as required
The candidate should possess:
A minimum 2-5 years relevant working experience, highly preferably in developing and securing association-sector business
Direct association business prospecting experience
Ability to work in the US
A College/University Degree
Good presentation skills
Database management experience
Sales and marketing experience in MICE industry is a plus
Proficiency in Microsoft word, excel, PowerPoint and others
Experience working with SimpleView
Understanding of Asia/Pacific region a plus
