The Director of Tourism is responsible for coordinating a program of tourism promotion and development for Charlotte County’s tourism industry and implementing its national and international marketing, advertising and public relations programs. The Director is to take the lead in creating diversity of product to enhance year-round tourism activity i.e. sports, events, film and niche market development.
The position requires the ability to represent the County and coordinate efforts with local, regional, and statewide organizations including County entities such as the Board of County Commissioners and Tourist Development Council, intra-government departments and numerous private sector organizations.
Applicant should have a Bachelor’s degree in marketing, tourism, hospitality or a related field, and five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in tourism and travel development or related field, to include lead or supervisory experience, and ten (10) years of experience in the field. CDME accreditation highly recommended. Knowledge of Florida tourism industry preferred.
