The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Advertising Manager for the Greater Ft. Lauderdale Convention and Visitors Bureau.
General Description Under the supervision of the VP of Marketing, the Advertising Manager is responsible for the implementation and execution of consumer and trade-facing advertising in an effort to increase tourist visitation and spending in Broward County, Florida.
This position will manage the production of advertisements that achieve organizational goals. This position will also assist the VP of Marketing in developing strategic and business plans as they relate to advertising.
This position manages a relationship with a third-party advertising firm, including supervising and guiding the placement of advertisements, monitoring quality, ensuring results. Additional responsibilities within this relationship include budgeting, managing invoicing, research and development, and determining goals. This position will assist and liaise with the advertising firm and the other departments of the GFLCVB when their business needs require specific or niche advertising. The successful candidate will be methodical, creative, and results-driven.
Further, this position, with guidance from the VP of Marketing and assistance from the Administration Department, will be responsible for managing the timely and procedural procurement of the marketing department's needed goods and services.
Advertising for a destination is a dynamic function; the appropriate candidate will be willing and able to adapt to and implement changes to the marketing efforts of the GFLCVB.
Candidate should be proficient in Microsoft Office, very proficient in Microsoft Power Point, and have an in-depth understanding of modern marketing concepts.
The purpose of this class within the organization is to perform complex, professional services and supervisory work of dynamic programs and partnership management at the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention and Visitors Bureau.
This class works under administrative supervision, developing and implementing programs within organizational policies and reports major activities to executive level administrators through conferences and reports.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.
Develops annual marketing plan and the annual sports development and conventions sales marketing plan; develops service programs and guidelines for team; identifies and solicits sports business in all major market segment in the USA and internationally; plans and coordinates all sports travel and convention sales promotions related to sales.
Designs custom convention marketing initiatives leveraging destination amenities and group resources; maintains effective networking relationships within the national convention and sports industry, local parks and recreation facilities and the local hospitality industry.
Oversees experience and performance measures of city-wide and individual meeting and convention groups.
Develops and is responsible for annual sports budget and monitors implementation; establishes and monitors major departmental objectives and individual goals; maintains and oversees monthly sales reports.
Plans and conducts in-depth site inspections for clients and plans and coordinates client destination previews; responds to individual group and general emergency issues affecting guest experience.
Provides assistance during execution of sales activities and monitors results with appropriate reports to supervisors; focuses on repeat, referral, higher spending, and testimonials for all groups.
Identifies, plans and attends all relevant sports, trade shows, missions to showcase Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County as a top sports and convention destination.
Submits grant applications to the Florida Sports Foundation to gain market share of sports grants.
Develops and is responsible for internal operating procedures for soliciting and securing sports business; provides input to the advertising agency regarding convention and sports travel advertising matters; develops/implements training for hospitality industry.
Performs related work as assigned.

Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in business, marketing, sports marketing or closely related field.
Requires four (4) years marketing, hospitality or sports commission experience or closely related experience.
Special Certifications and Licenses Required: Certified Meeting Professional (CMP)
Preferences: 4 years of recent advertising experience at a destination or corporation Experience in advertising agency management or client services
