The Hamilton County Sports Authority (HCSA) is committed to supporting the county’s sport tourism industry as a leading destination for youth, amateur, and professional sports. HCSA partners with several venues and clubs across the county to host youth travel, collegiate, and professional sporting events. Position Statement
The Senior Sports Development Manager will perform sales, marketing, event management, and development duties that attract and support sports events and activities that strengthen the economic impact through overnight visitation. This position also executes strategies through sports advocacy, collaborations, and venue development that support the mission and purpose of Hamilton County Tourism, Inc., and the desire for sustainable and regenerative tourism. Responsibilities
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with event organizers, venue managers, sports stakeholders, and local, regional, and national sports organizations.
Develop and foster relationships with local school districts, youth sports clubs, and parks departments.
Develop relationships with local businesses seeking sponsorship opportunities through sport to create business to business (B2B) connections.
Represent Hamilton County professionally at appropriate local, regional, and national events, tradeshows, meetings, and conferences which includes overnight travel.
Identify sports organizations and events that have the potential to grow out-of-area travel and impact to the region.
Support sport tourism through grants, local organizing committee work, marketing, communication, and other activities to ensure successful sporting events.
Utilize, maintain, and manage sales tools, strategies and data used to attract business and measure results.
Maintain a well-informed knowledge of all area event facilities, hotels, sports organizations, events, and new facility development and act as a resource to community and stakeholder groups.
Prepare bids, grant applications, and event impact calculations to secure, support and analyze event opportunities.
Create and deliver verbal and written presentations to clients and stakeholders.
Work with the marketing team to manage sports content and editorial calendar for the Hamilton County Sports Authority. Provide expertise, trends, content ideas for publications, website, social media, collateral, and other marketing and sales platforms.
Work with the visitor experience team to help identify major events, manage housing, local organizing committees, and other event fulfillment functions.
Work with executive leadership to identify new opportunity and strategic initiatives in sport.
Engage in activities that meet or exceed annual goals in lead generation, new accounts, bids, new business, and sustainability.
Additional Responsibilities
Manage job-related travel and expenses according to established, fiscally responsible policy and practice.
Maintain accurate client account and contact records in the customer relationship management (CRM) system.
Participate in HCT-sponsored functions and activities as needed.
Participate in department meetings, staff meetings, and project meetings as required by position or requested by supervisor.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Environment: Hybrid—remote and office in Carmel, Indiana
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree or comparable experience in sports management, tourism, sales, or related field
Proven ability to build relationships, lead people, and influence outcomes
Recent work experience (3-5 years) in the sports management field
Previous experience working or volunteering with a nonprofit helpful

Ability to lift 25 pounds and move boxes and bulky materials
Occasional outdoor, evening, and weekend work
Overnight travel, including both ground and air
Valid driver’s license and ability to drive own car as well as the company vehicle
